The Theon
Client: MONA
Year: 2011
The Theon unit was designed in parallel to the development of the “O” software and the construction of the Museum of Old and New Art itself. Within 990 x 550 x 790mm, 240 devices can be recharged, synced, and updated.
Strong yet lightweight drawers float within a shell folded from thick aluminium plate. The gaps between drawers provides ventilation for the devices while charging and permit wifi access for software updates. When viewed from above, the organic, orderly chaos of cables set under glass relieve the surface and celebrate their necessity.
